Sunderland Player Adam Johnson Charged For Underage Sex
Appearing at Bradford Crown Court, the Sunderland forward pleaded innocent to 2 counts of sexual activity with a girl aged under 16. The 28-year-old from who has 12 England caps, was apprehended in March 2015.
His case is due to be formally opened on Friday. Kate Blackwell QC for the prosecution said the alleged incidents took place around the area of Castle Eden and Wingate.
The Judge, Jonathan Rose, presiding over the case told the jury of 6 men and 6 women: "You may see reference to this in the press but it's the evidence in court that you will gather."
Adam Johnson has already pleaded guilty to 2 offences which will be heard in detail on Friday to determine if he is guilty or not guilty.
